In the train 1 / Thursday, April 19, 2007
I took train daily and have found out alot of interesting stuff during my journey. I'll list down what I have observed during the whole week as I thought it is pretty interesting.
Incident 1: 'Please give up your seat to elderly'. Everyone is very well aware of this sentence and you could easily spot the sign in any public transportation. The reason why we have to surrender the seat is mainly because elderly people are considered weaker as compared to young people. But what I saw was completely opposite. Once the train opened its door, I saw an elderly lady pushing and squeezing through the crowd in order to warm the bench of the MRT train. She was alot faster as compared to many young working adults who were on the race. I was pretty disgusted by this lady's action. Instead of pushing which may injure the others, I think she should not fight for the seat. I'm sure that there will be someone who is willing to give up his/her seat to her. *Not all elderly are rude, this was just another unusual people.
Incident 2: Recently, I saw a new way of 'stealing' seat from somebody. I find it a very intelligent way and it can be pretty annoying. This couple was pushing the baby's stroller into the train. The train was crowded and there were no vacant seat at all. Sooo, they were forced to be stucked on the door area. With the bulky stroller, it made movement nearly impossible. So this clever mother, she carried her baby from the stroller and forced her way to the seat area. She was standing between me and another 'gentleman'. This 'gentleman' was a joker, he fell asleep like as if he's dead instantly. So I stood up and offered my seat. This clever mum said a quick 'thank you' to me and sat on the seat. At least she thanked me, it makes me feel slightly better. Haha.
There were simply too many tricks and stunts in the MRT. I got abit tired of typing them out. Shall continue another time. See ya guys.
